Ventura 10 and Windows 7
Ventura 10 runs on all current versions of the Windows operating system. And yes, this includes both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
For the 32-bit version of Vista and Windows 7 you have to first set the compatibility mode to Windows 2000. (For details on how to do this send me an email.)
The Professional and Ultimate versions of Windows 7 have an applet called Windows XP Mode that will allow you to run old software that doesn't normally run on anything later than Windows XP.
The prices for different versions of Windows 7 vary, but what many people don't know is that there's a specially priced package that allows you to upgrade 3 PCs to Windows Home Premium for less than the cost of buying two upgrade programs.
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack (3-User) allows users to upgrade three systems from either XP or Vista. Anyone running Vista can use the "upgrade" feature to install Windows 7 and enjoy its new features. Those currently running XP can purchase any upgrade package, but will have to use the "full install" feature which means wiping off the old operating system and doing a fresh install. This package may not be available forever and the price fluctuates, so purchase now if you want to save money and upgrade at your leisure. Even if you want to end up using one of the higher end versions of Windows 7 this path will save you money in the long run.
If you're getting close to the point where you need a new PC consider purchasing one now and get the new operating system preinstalled. That will save you upgrade or install hassles and the cost of the upgrade package.
